The MBTrail Case Study is a UX/UI design project focused on improving accessibility and real-time navigation for public transit riders. Developed in Figma and Microsoft applications, the project explores how thoughtful, user-centered design can simplify the transit experience and provide riders with reliable travel information when they need it most.

The project began with research into the challenges commuters face when navigating the MBTA system. Through user research, workflow analysis, wireframing, usability testing, and iterative feedback, my team identified a need for more accessible and easily digestible real-time transit information. Accessibility became a primary design focus, with particular attention given to color contrast, visual hierarchy, and clear information architecture.

To address these challenges, we designed an intuitive mobile experience centered around two core functions: providing real-time travel updates and helping users track subway locations. By focusing on these essential tasks, we created a streamlined interface that reduces cognitive load while improving the overall rider experience.

The design was intentionally aligned with the existing MBTA ecosystem by using familiar colors, typography, and visual patterns. This approach helped create a seamless experience that felt recognizable to riders while introducing new tools for navigation and trip planning.

The final solution demonstrates how accessible, focused design can improve the usability of public transit by delivering critical travel information in a clear, efficient, and user-friendly format.
